2022 YEAR IN REVIEW

RESIDENCIES
In the snowy months, Joe Labate and Laura LaFave worked collaboratively on their series Under One Roof, publishing a full portfolio of their works on paper, set in the wintry backdrop. As the blooms started to appear, local artists Royce Deans and Angela Saxon joined us as our first Guest Artists, taking full advantage of the printshop to produce a series of monotypes. As spring arrived, Ahavani Mullen experimented in her process involving 'charging' raw materials with vibrations, working on several large-scale paintings to be exhibited at the Dennos Museum Center in Feb 2023. The summer saw the return of Marianne Shaneen for part 2 of her residency, during which she continued work on her novel Homing and swam in Lake Michigan nearly every day in residence. By the time the weather started to cool again, Shruthi Rajasekar dedicated her residency to examining the relationship between creative focus and spiritual meditation, making a sacred choral work embodying these two connected realms. As the leaves started to change color, photographers Barbara Bosworth and Emily Sheffer published their handmade book Diana's Baths inspired by Bosworth's landscape images. The day after Halloween, Jon and Cathy Cone arrived, using their printing expertise to collaborate on new digital techniques based in photogravure and relief printing. At Thanksgiving, Debra Salopek experimented in woodcuts and charcoal to expand her chronicles series focusing on Lake Michigan ice formations, inspired by the Cape Dorset collection of Inuit prints at the Dennos Museum Center. And, over the winter break, Juan Giraldo is currently in residence experimenting in photogravure to produce prints taken in/about Paterson, NJ, where he was raised, and editing his East 17th St series focusing on his parents' home life.
