In 1854, brothers William and Frederick Langenheim made seven daguerreotypes of the total eclipse of the sun--the first eclipse visible in North America since the invention of photography. 163 years later, under the light of the eclipse in 2017, 2022 AIR Emily Sheffer reprinted Langenheim’s images using sun-sensitive paper, producing images made by the light of one eclipse printed with the light of another. Eclipse of the Sun is a limited edition artist's book that displays both the cyanotypes and negatives printed on vellum.
